JSO Board Positions

Executive Board:
Time Commitment:  The executive board meets bi-weekly to discuss JSO and Hillel programming and any issues.  The meetings range between an hour and two hours depending.  Each position is required to fulfill their specific duties, most of this time commitment will be outside of the scheduled meetings and will vary by position.  It is expected that all executive positions will make the utmost effort to attend all Hillel and Jewish Student Organization events.  At least one Executive Board or Minor Board member will be designated as the Fore Front representative for the Jewish Student Organization

President:

  • Preside over meetings of the Student Council and Executive Board
  • Vote in Student Council Meetings only in the case of a tie
  • Appoint and remove all committee chairmen in conjunction with the Executive Committee
  • Handle communication between Hillel, the Jewish Student Organization and the University of Missouri
  • Oversee the planning and execution of Jewish Student Organization activities
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office

Vice President:

  • Become the President should the office be vacated
  • In the absence of the President preside at the meetings
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office
  • Have a voice and vote in Student Council

Secretary:

  • Maintain complete and pertinent records of the Student Council meetings and Executive Committee
  • Handle all correspondence of the organization
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office
  • Have a voice and vote in the Student Council

Treasurer:

  • Maintain complete records of all financial obligations to Hillel, the Jewish Student Organization and to the University of Missouri
  • Assist with the handling of correspondence with the University of Missouri
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office
  • Have a voice and vote in the Student Council

Social and Outreach Chair:

  • Assist in the planning of Jewish Student Organization activities
  • Assist in the correspondence of the organization
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office
  • Have a voice and vote in the Student Council

Minor Board
Time Commitment: The Minor Board meets once per month in conjunction with the Executive Board.  The Minor Board is overseen by a member of the Executive Board.  Much of the duties of the Minor Board and the duties of each position are done outside of the Minor Board monthly meetings.  All Minor Board members are expected to make the utmost effort to attend every Hillel and Jewish Student Organization events.

Israel Chair:

  • Organize at least two (2) Israel specific events in conjunction with the Social and Outreach Chair.
  • Actively search out Israel specific programs
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office

Social Action Chair

  • Assist in the organization of Holocaust Remembrance Week
  • Seek out volunteer opportunities for the Jewish Student Organization
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office

Shabbat Chair

  • Assist in the planning of weekly Shabbat services
  • Assist in creating themed Shabbat services
  • Perform all other duties pertinent to his/her office
