Become a Mizzou Hillel Intern!

We are looking for a diverse team of students with different Jewish backgrounds and interests to work together, get more people involved, and show Mizzou how vibrant Jewish life can be! All interns will receive a stipend for their hard work as well as plenty of free perks.

Interns will be expected to work an average of 8-10 hours per week for the 2019-2020 school year in the following areas:

Engagement Internship

What you’ll do:

  • Reach out to freshmen and new students before the semester starts to welcome them to campus, and continue engaging students throughout the year.
  • Take students out for coffee, engage them in Jewish conversations and experiences, and connect them to others with similar interests or other Jewish opportunities.
  • Track trends in student engagement using Schwipe, Hillel’s online relationship management system.
  • Mandatory Participation in a Hillel Engagement conference (date pending).
  • Attendance and full participation in weekly intern cohort training sessions with the Hillel Internship supervisor.
  • Participate in Hillel programming and have a presence at Hillel events and on campus.
  • Occasional tabling shifts on campus to spread the word and meet new Jewish students.
  • Desk hours a few hours a week to answer phones, work on projects, and reach out to students. If all work is done, you can do your homework!

What we’re looking for:

  • An outgoing person looking to make friends!
  • Well connected students involved in different areas of campus life.

Israel Engagement Internship

What you’ll do:

  • Recruit students for our Hillel-supported Israel trips, including Birthright Israel and Perspectives.
  • Leading a small team of volunteer Birthright Israel recruiters.
  • Take students out for coffee, engage them in Jewish and/or Israel conversations and experiences, and connect them to others with similar interests or other Jewish/Israel opportunities.
  • Assist in planning Birthright Israel and Perspectives reunions and events.
  • Track trends in student engagement using Schwipe, Hillel’s online relationship management system.
  • Mandatory Participation in a Hillel Engagement conference (date pending).
  • Attendance and full participation in weekly intern cohort training sessions with the Hillel Internship supervisor.
  • Participate in Hillel programming and have a presence at Hillel events and on campus.

  • A strong connection to the land of Israel!
  • A passionate Birthright Israel Alumni or someone who is registering to go with us this Winter!
  • Marketing and social media skills are a plus.

Programming Logistics Internship

What you’ll do:

  • Work with Hillel staff and Jewish Student Organization (JSO) board members to develop and grow current Hillel programming.
  • Reserve spaces for events outside of the Hillel and prepare Hillel space for events.
  • Coordinate event calendar and communicate with Hillel staff and JSO interns.
  • Order supplies and assist in marketing for events.
  • Desk hours a few hours a week to answer phones, work on projects, and reach out to students. If all work is done, you can do your homework!

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Marketing and Social Media Internship

What you’ll do:

  • Manage our social media pages and Mailchimp (our mass email software) to promote programs and initiatives.
  • Create social media campaigns to share the amazing things going on in the Mizzou Jewish community.
  • Promote and spread the word about Hillel programming through email, texts, social media, and in person.
  • Occasional tabling shifts on campus to spread the word and meet new Jewish students.
  • Take pictures at programs and events with your phone!
  • Desk hours a few hours a week to answer phones, work on projects, and reach out to students. If all work is done, you can do your homework!

What we’re looking for:

  • Proficiency in Canva, an easy to use graphics software.
  • Excitement to connect Jewish students, parents, and alumni virtually!
  • Creativity and organizational skills.
