Columbia Chorale presents Remembrance: A Daniel Pearl Concert
This coming Saturday, October 12, at 7:00 pm in the First Baptist Church (1112 East Broadway), the Columbia Chorale will perform Robert Convery’s “Songs of Children,” an intensely moving setting of children’s poetry recovered from the Nazi concentration camp at Theresienstadt. Tens of thousands of Jews died of disease, exposure and malnutrition at the camp, and many more were transported to the extermination camps at Auschwitz, Treblinka and elsewhere. If you want to know why this piece is relevant today, read its opening passage from the Torah: Deuteronomy 4:9. Tickets: $5 for students.
