Reflections on the first two months on the job

Since this is my first ever blog post, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Brian Mitchell and I am the current Hillel Director here at the University of Missouri.  Originally hailing from St. Louis, MO, coming back to the Midwest is a dream come true! My first day on the job was the first day of classes this semester, so the first two months have been a bit of a whirlwind for me, for Hillel and the Jewish Student Organization.  That being said, the first part of my first semester has been an absolute blast. I have met some great people, the programming has been exciting and engaging, and there is much more to come in the future!

Some highlights of September and October include the High Holy Day celebration at the Hillel Building, a new team of student staff members working to make improvements at Hillel, fun social programming, and of course, great attendance at the weekly Friday night Shabbat services and dinner. Coming up during Winter Break, approximately 15 Mizzou students will be going on a 10 day Birthright Trip to Israel, which I will be staffing.  This is bound to be an amazing experience for all!

There will be more regular Blog updates like this to follow in the future that not only will include happenings at Hillel, but also questions to ponder and things to think about as a Jewish student on a college campus, so….Stay Tuned! Until the next post, I’ll leave you with this….Go CARDINALS!!!!
