Make Friends. Get Involved. Be Jewish.
Yom Hashoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day
April 16, 2015
We remember the 6 million Jews and 5 million others who perished in the Holocaust as well as those who perished in other genocides and we vow “never again”.
What does it mean to say “never again” and what can we do to prevent another genocide? Sometimes it seems overwhelming and sometimes we are talking about events on the other side of the world and so it is hard to find ways to take direct action.
What we CAN do, no matter who we are or where we live, is to be voices for tolerance, respect, and diversity.
What we CAN do, no matter who we are or where we live, is speak up when we see instances of discrimination and hate.
What we CAN do, no matter who we are or where we live, is to be active and engaged in creating a community that cares for one another here at Mizzou, in Columbia, in Missouri, in our country, and in our world.
Mizzou Hillel is a place where Jewish students come to meet each other and get involved in Jewish life in Mid-Missouri. We are committed to creating a pluralistic, welcoming and inclusive environment; fostering student growth and the balance in being distinctively Jewish and universally human; advancing social justice, Jewish learning and spirituality; embracing Israel and global Jewish peoplehood and creating a close-knit community of people with one thing in common: being Jewish.
